One of the most popular questions we hear from new painters is, “Can I use base paint without tint?” You’d imagine that when the base paint has the word “paint” in it, it will behave like paint.

But answer is no. Technically, base paint without a tint is appropriate. It will dry after you have applied it to your walls.

Even if you were only looking for white, you won’t be able to get the color you want without tint. Furthermore, if there is a paint color underneath, it will bleed through.
